What We Believe

Mission Statement

It’s Avenue T’s ongoing mission to continue Jesus’s command to make disciples, Baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey all that he commanded.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

We are Christian!  No more, no less, and no different from the people who were “first called Christians in Antioch” (Acts 11:26).   We believe that the church is a collection of people with diverse backgrounds who find a common bond in Christ and who wish to be faithful to the Bible.

Our goal is to please God, and we believe that the best way to do that is to follow the pattern that was established by the churches in the first century and revealed in the New Testament.  We have no creed or doctrine except the Bible, and we follow the Bible only. We strive for unity in teaching the New Testament good news.

Our congregation is not part of, or subject to, any larger man-made religious organization. We are a completely autonomous congregation. We are locally governed, just as the church in the first century was.

Emphasis is on basics includes certain themes which have always been at the heart of the Christian faith: God’s love for all people, forgiveness through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, the authority of Scripture, the church as the spiritual body of Christ, and the call to a devout life.

We pray you will find the following:

  • A very warm welcome in a family-friendly environment
  • A simple and reverent worship experience (John 4:24)
  • An on-going effort to study God’s Word and build faith solely upon the bedrock of the teachings of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 7:24-27; Romans 10:17)
  • A strong commitment to do all we do in word or deed “in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:17)

We sincerely hope and pray that you will give us the opportunity and privilege of sharing our faith, hope, and love with you and your family.

Sunday Morning Service:

We gather together at 10:30 am for morning service and want you to feel comfortable when you visit us for worship services, so here is a brief summary of what you can expect from a typical service at Avenue T:

  • Praying:  We are led by different men in our congregation (1 Timothy 2:1-8).
  • Singing:  The whole congregation joins together in praising God in song without the use of musical instruments (Ephesians 5:19Colossians 3:16). In case anyone is unfamiliar with one of the songs, the words are available in our songbooks and also on a screen in front of the auditorium. Many of our visitors choose to join us in singing, while others prefer simply to listen as we worship.
  • Taking Communion:  Every Sunday, our members remember Christ’s death by eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine (Acts 20:7). We sit quietly for a few minutes and reflect on how wonderful it is that God loved us enough to give his own Son for us!
  • Giving: Each member of this congregation contributes weekly to the work of the church (1 Corinthians 16:2). We do not ask or expect our visitors to give anything in the offering.
  • Preaching:  We will enjoy a Bible lesson that lasts about 30 minutes (Acts 2:42Romans 10:14). On most Sundays, our minister, presents these lessons, though occasionally a guest speaker will guide our thoughts. Each lesson will take a Bible passage and explain what it means and how it applies to our lives.

Maybe you’ve realized there’s a void in your life, like something’s missing. This is a perfect opportunity to visit us to find opportunities to connect with Christians in this area. It’ll be a non-threatening environment, and you won’t be singled out or made to feel uncomfortable in any way. Just come join us for this simple worship service where we’ll reflect on what Jesus Christ has to say to our lives.

We’d love to see you soon. We’ve saved you a seat!
