What to Expect

What to Expect

Visiting a new church can be intimidating. We think you’ll enjoy the traditional bible classes and services here at Avenue T.   It can be awkward to walk into a new place, so we hope this page will help eliminate some of the apprehension you may have.  We would love to have you visit and worship with us.

Bible Study

Bible study is an essential part of Christian life.  In Paul’s instructions to Timothy, quoted above, Paul exhorts Timothy to continue to study and live by the Scriptures. Paul reminds Timothy that the Scriptures are profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness so that the man of God can be complete and equipped for every good work!  (2 Timothy 3:14-17)

Sunday morning at 9:30 am we gather together before our regular Sunday morning worship service, for a period of Bible study.  We offer classes that range from Infants to Adults.

Sunday Morning Service

We gather together at 10:30 am for morning service and want you to feel comfortable when you visit us for worship services, so here is a brief summary of what you can expect from a typical service at Avenue T:

  • Praying:  We are led by different men in our congregation (1 Timothy 2:1-8).
  • Singing:  The whole congregation joins together in praising God in song without the use of musical instruments (Ephesians 5:19Colossians 3:16). In case anyone is unfamiliar with one of the songs, the words are available in our songbooks and also on a screen in front of the auditorium. Many of our visitors choose to join us in singing, while others prefer simply to listen as we worship.
  • Taking Communion:  Every Sunday, our members remember Christ’s death by eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine (Acts 20:7). We sit quietly for a few minutes and reflect on how wonderful it is that God loved us enough to give his own Son for us!
  • Giving: Each member of this congregation contributes weekly to the work of the church (1 Corinthians 16:2). We do not ask or expect our visitors to give anything in the offering.
  • Preaching:  We will enjoy a Bible lesson that lasts about 30 minutes (Acts 2:42Romans 10:14). On most Sundays, our minister, presents these lessons, though occasionally a guest speaker will guide our thoughts. Each lesson will take a Bible passage and explain what it means and how it applies to our lives.

Maybe you’ve realized there’s a void in your life, like something’s missing. This is a perfect opportunity to visit us to find opportunities to connect with Christians in this area. It’ll be a non-threatening environment, and you won’t be singled out or made to feel uncomfortable in any way. Just come join us for this simple worship service where we’ll reflect on what Jesus Christ has to say to our lives.

We’d love to see you soon. We’ve saved you a seat!
